Weekend Roundup

I took off on Friday to go to a friend’s wedding. It was a semi-last minute affair and it was simple and truthful. Congratulations, Em! Saturday a friend an I went to a small business seminar. As expected most of the 2 hours was used to sell a course that cost $400 but I got some good things out of it. If anything it maintained my focus. I was amazed that some people in the seminar were irritated that the guy was going so fast and kept referring to the full course. What the heck do you expect for free, people? I was also amazed by how many people were so willing to shell out $400 for the course. The guy didn’t have one example that wasn’t 12-15 years old! He used an OVERHEAD PROJECTOR for pete’s sake. I dunno, I guess some small business stuff hasn’t changed, but I just don’t trust a guy using an overhead projector.

Today Tom & I got up deliciously early (8:30) and went to breakfast for our 3rd or 4th Sunday in a row. It’s becoming a new tradition and I love it. Hot Links and over-medium eggs are delightful on a cold Sunday morning. I spent most of today trying to stay warm and writing up the employee handbook for the employees I don’t have yet. I also contacted a Market Research Firm and a Direct Mail place for quotes. I’m sure both will be out of our price range (which currently stands at a hill of beans).

Oh well, a girl and her make-believe business can dream, can’t she?
