Until the new Live CD “Songs from Black Mountain” comes out, but I’m not counting down or anything…
Trip re-cap so far: Sunday, got to the airport at 6am (Thanks Emily & Juan!). Flight was actually crowded. I guess there are more crazy people out there than I expected. Got to Philly 20 minutes early, which is almost a first. Mel picked me up & we headed to the boardwalk in Ocean City. It was cloudy & overcast which is depressing. It made everything seem old and in need of a touch-up. Anyway, we ate Pizza, got Ice Cream & Voltaco’s subs and then headed to the hotel for a few hours. Around 5:30 we left for Atlantic City. God that place is dirty & nasty. Walked on the boardwalk for a bit before heading into the House of Blues for the show. We were in standing room only General Admission. 7th row from the stage.
The opening band, Will Hoge was a pleasant surprise. In fact, it was one of the best opening acts I’ve ever seen. They were on stage for about 30 minutes. Finally, around 9pm, Live took the stage. It was AMAZING! The best show I’ve seen in years. The boys looked happy, Ed smiled a lot & played with the crowd. They were on stage almost 2 hours, which is long for a Live show. They played 5 songs from the upcoming CD and the songs were fabulous. Everyone in the crowd really liked them. Ed looked amazing and when he took his shirt off, it was all over. Why doesn’t he do that in Dallas? We like to see 1/2 naked Ed too!
Mel & I each bought one of Will Hoge’s cds and he was nice enough to sign it for each of us. Seriously, you need to check them out. The CD I got is a live cd and one of the songs they played that night is on there. The CD itself says something like “unauthorized copying will be considered a compliment” (you can tell they’re not with a big record company, right?) so when I get home I’ll upload that song for ya’ll.
Anyway, the show was so good that it was definitely worth the trip and even made me consider driving 9 hours to see them in St. Louis in October. I mean, come on, it’s Live! I drove 8 hours to see them in Kansas in 2000, so why not?
Now I’m just hanging out in Harrisburg. I’m not used to down-time so although watching tv is fun I’m kind of bored. I’m making my mom dinner tonight so that will give me something to do.
